Post-vacation

I've done some excercising

Last time I wrote a bit about my vacationing plans, and today i will—belatedly—tell you that they didn't happen.

My plans had solidified into going to visit a friend who now lives in Estonia, and check out their swanky new apartment and possibly tourist a bit.

The original premise was the romantic idea of hopping on my bike, going to Bennäs and get on a train, go south to Helsingfors and then hop on a boat to Tallinn. This was a bit optimistic, you have to order tickets fairly well in advance and only very few trains line up somewhat with the ferries.

Having sussed this out I bought some tickets and were ready to go when it occurred to me to ask whether they check your travel documents when going to a non-nordic country and indeed it turns out they do. And my passport expired in 2016. And just a driver's license is no good.

Bum.

No way to get a passport or EU-certified ID in time I had to cancel. (There is a mythical creature that's called urgent or quick passports, but I am not even sure now that they exist, the police doesn't seem to know about them at any rate)

So that was that. I spent my vacation moping about at home instead and not doing much bicycling either. So meet this year's vacation, same as last year's vacation.

More things that have happened: Not a lot

Most recently my pebble's battery has started to fade quite drastically and seems to be expanding, so I found out the physical size and specs for the battery to replace it but such things are difficult to source if you're not into electronics much and even then the pebble alledgedly uses a 3.8V Li-Po battery, which is even rarer (The regular 3.7V could work as well though, with reduced battery life).

In case anyone reads this and really wants to know:

Pebble Time Steel battery specs
Dimensions: 17x17x5 mm
Electrical: 250mAh, 3.8V with protection circuit

These batteries being pretty well out of my reach, I kind of caved lsat week and ordered a replacement PTS off ebay. Wish me luck it's not a brick.

WoW Classic

Blizzard will be releasing a "classic" version of their soul-sucking MMO in August and I've kind of gotten myself into playing it with some Swedes, which I am cautiously optimistic would be fun.

I played some of the current version and it's extremely dull. My eyes glaze over when doing quests, can't even bother to read the description. Zero challenge. I hope I can manage some enthusiasm for the 1.12 re-release. For a week at least.

Walking

Finally, I started walking on a whim to get up to 10k steps per day and somehow I've kept it up for two weeks (and one day) now.

It's been pretty good, the first couple of days was tough but now I can easily just keep walking. Talk about being unfit.

I'm not doing it for any particular reason other than doing it but i have a small hope it might help me ride my bikes longer without getting a migraine. It's quite a damper on the will to go biking knowing that it will hurt pretty bad the rest of the day.

Finally

Oh, and the temperature got stupidly hot again, last night at 11PM it was 29 degrees in my apartment. I need to get into gear on the whole project of getting a heat pump installed.

For that to happen I need to contact someone who can install one and more importantly the building cooperative needs to agree to me installing it. Two things to get done and I'm not good at getting things done. That it's murderously hot doesn't help at all either.

Cat doesn't mind the heat apparently.
